Good Morning -

I am a board member on the Laguna Creek Watershed Council and this Sunday we are hosting a free fall activity called 'Cruise the Creek'.  See the attached flyer.

I live in Fallbrook and thought it would be good to post on the FNA Facebook page as we are all so close to the creek.

As for the Ice Cream Contest...No Rules!

We will provide Dixie Cups and Spoons for taste testing.  Each person testing will be given 3 tickets to vote for their favorite.  Contest will be held under the Van Doren Depot.
If you plan on participating, please email us, so that we know how many signs to bring for the flavors, so that they can be posted in front of your ice cream.  egfallbrook@yahoo.com

The winner will have their recipe printed in the Newsletter.

The board will also be providing store bought Ice Cream for all to enjoy!

The MOONSHINE MULES will be there at 7; however, feel free to get there earlier in order to get a spot and have a picnic!

Bring your instruments, if you feel like having a little Jam session!  Everyone is welcome to join in!

Independence Day Bike Parade

EASTER EGG HUNT!

Van Doren Park

Hi Neighbors!  How much do you really know about our local park?  I thought I would post some more info, just in case you wanted to know about it.  It is almost done and I know we can't wait to share it with all of you!

Completed in 1991

Van Doren Park is named after Merle B. Van Doren and his son Robert. Merle was born in Minnesota and came to Elk Grove in 1920, two years after he married his wife, Hattie. With his father-in-law, Van Doren began a general merchandise store on Elk Grove Blvd. Merle was a friendly man and active in several community organizations. He served on the Elk Grove Fire District Board of Directors, which was his major contribution to the community. He had 3 children (Wilma, Bob and Ruth) and 10 grandchildren. 

Robert attended Elk Grove Elementary and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1945. He was a Merchant Marine, postal carrier, and insurance man. Robert was involved in the Elk Grove Firemanâs Association and was a member of the Elk Grove Fire District Board of Directors (later renamed Elk Grove Community Services District) from 1969 to 1989. Robert is a Charter member of the Elk Grove Rotary Club, where he served as secretary for 7 years, and was involved in Masonic Lodge #173.

Van Doren Park - Update

So...I know I haven't posted in a while, but I was on vacation...I know, shouldn't I take my computer with me? Well I didn't! My son was all disappointed that he couldn't play at "his" park when we got back. He was so broken hearted (he's 3); however, he still wants to drive by it everyday to take pictures and see it.  Now he is super excited since the new playground equipment has been delivered and there is a big rock to play on! I hope you are all enjoying all the changes that are going on over there!


By the way...we hit 50 likes on Facebook!

Van Doren Park Extension

If you haven't seen it already, the park is coming along pretty quickly.  I have been taking pictures almost each week, sometimes more and thought I would share them with you!  If you haven't noticed, there has been concrete poured already as well!

Van Doren Park has begun!

I have been taking pictures as the progress has been happening.  Here is some for your enjoyment!  I sure can't wait to play here (well my kids can't anyway).  Looking forward to an annual Fallbrook Tennis Tournament...what do you think?
