Lost Dog

Dear Fallbrook Neighborhood:

How can I get this urgent information out to our neighborhood?

For those of you who might remember, this last August there was a sweet little all-black male dog “dumped” off at the elementary playground.  Some of us left food and water for him as he was too skittish to be picked-up and taken home.  I strongly believe this lost dog is the same lost dog who needs a home (see below)!

We have an ailing dog or we would take him in a heartbeat!  I am hoping that the other folks in our neighborhood who also left food and water for this guy, may be willing take him in or know someone who would be willing to make their home his forever home.

Please read below and see if you can help Kathleen!

Staff of Carroll, Toby Johnson and Franklin High,
While walking a neighborhood precinct on Monday, I met up with Kathleen Albiani who had found a lost dog.  I told her I would send the info to our schools hoping that one of the kids would be on the lookout for a dog.  The neighborhood where the dog was found is just east of our schools.  Please ask your students if anyone is missing a dog.  See the description below and pictures attached.  Kathleen has included her phone number below and her email is in the cc box.  If I didn’t already have 3 Great Danes, I would have adopted this cutie in a second!
Thanks for your help,
Maggie
Here are the specs:

Small Male Dog
1 to 2 years old (so says the vet I took him to)
No collar or tag
No microchip
completely black
a little over 20 pounds
not neutered
skittish with men and strangers

He's super sweet, but low on the learning so I think he was someone's outside dog. Anyhow, if you find his home or a home that would be good for him, he is very lovable and learns quickly. I find him charming, but one dog is all I can manage. He's in a good space for now, but I would love to find him a great home. He's very good with the other dogs and follows my dog Sammy like a shadow. Sammy, it's quite clear, would love for me to find him a good home :)

Thanks again and good luck with all of your canvassing.

Winterization Tips

I was thinking about what we need to do around our house to make sure it is winterized, have you? If not, here is a little list I found online that might help:

1: Dodge the drafts: According to the U.S. Department of Energy, drafts can
waste 5% to 30% of your energy use.
2: Change Furnace filters once a month during heating season.
3: Reverse your fans and you can save up to 10% on your heating bills.
4: Winterize your AC and Water lines: See the following link for more details.
5: Turn down your water heater (Not sure I like this one), but it can save you up to 6-10% on your heating costs.

Check back later for more. There are 19 of them to be exact!

Elk Grove Police Department Safety Town

Attention Fallbrook Residents...Do you have a child going into Kindergarten this fall? If you do, there is a really cool Safety program developed by the Elk Grove Police Department that you might want to register them for. It is a 2 week program, 2 1/2 hours long, M-F for only $25. There is only 64 kids allowed in the program and you have to mail your registration in, so if you are interested, check out this link and get it in. I have heard from other parents in the neighborhood that have had children attend and they absolutely LOVED it!

Solicitor's Permit

Did you know that when solicitors come to your house, they should be armed with a Solicitor's Permit? That is, except for Girls Scouts, School Fundraisers, and some church organizations (no were specifically told to us by the EGPD at our meeting). Otherwise, if someone is coming to sell something at your door, they should have a permit. I have a copy of the certificate for you to see. I will post it shortly!

House ROBBED!

Hey Neighbors...KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!  There are air conditioning units being stolen from vacant homes (ones that are for sale!).  9056 Allenford Place was robbed of the air conditioning unit, most likely yesterday.  This is NOT the only home that was robbed, according to the detective.  Keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles...possibly a white, American made van.  If you see anything, contact EG Police ASAP!  (916) 714-5115 is the Non-Emergency line.  Or call 911, if anyone feels threatened!  Thank you Fallbrook!
